The Crile-Wood needle holder is very similar to the Mayo-Hegar needle holder. Very conventional, its particularity lies in its simplicity and its very classic design. Indeed, the Crile-Wood needle holder is based on the traditional scissor design: two long, thin, straight handles and two grip rings. Thanks to its shape and the length of its handle, it is particularly appreciated when the operating field is difficult to access, or for deep care, for example in the posterior areas of the mouth. Unlike the Mayo-Hegar, the Crile-Wood needle holder has a much finer, slightly rounded tip. Thus, this instrument is recommended when the practitioner uses delicate needles with a smaller caliber of suture.
